About the Role:
The Red Hat Ansible Engineering team is seeking a passionate Software Engineer to join the Ansible DevTools Team. This team is a vital part of Red Hat’s Engineering organization, contributing to a broad range of Red Hat’s solutions. The role involves designing and developing tools to simplify the creation and testing of Ansible content, managing project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables, and working in a fast-paced environment using GitHub and peer review workflows.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop new features and projects for developer tools, contributing these to upstream projects.
- Submit patches for bug fixes and review patches from community members.
- Educate the team on new features through pull request reviews and presentations.
- Write unit and integration tests.
- Collaborate closely with the Ansible Content team to meet requirements.
- Work with the Quality Engineering team to ensure thorough testing.
- Coordinate with the Productization team for releases.
- Promote the team’s work through blogs, web posts, or conference talks.
Required Qualifications:
- 2+ years of experience in software development using JavaScript, ReactJS, TypeScript, or Python.
- Familiarity with VS Code extensions.
- Experience with collaborative code forges such as GitHub or GitLab.
- Knowledge of CI/CD tools like GitHub Actions.
- Passion for open source technologies and communities.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong object-oriented development skills.
- Experience with unit and integration testing.
- Knowledge of automated testing tools.
- Willingness to learn container technologies and Kubernetes.
- Practical experience with Linux and Bash scripting.
- Understanding of various deployment models including cloud, virtualization, and containers.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
