About Aladdin and Aladdin Engineering: The Analyst will work on BlackRock’s investment operating system, Aladdin, which is utilized internally and externally by numerous financial institutions. Aladdin integrates advanced risk analytics with comprehensive portfolio management, trading, and operations tools to facilitate informed decision-making and serves as a connective platform for global investors. As a member of Aladdin Engineering, you’ll contribute to building next-generation technology that revolutionizes the intersection of information, people, and technology for investment firms worldwide.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and develop Java components using the Spring framework.
- Develop high-performance, secure, production-quality code.
- Take ownership of the entire development lifecycle, from design to maintenance.
Skills/Qualifications:
- Proficiency in “industrial-strength” Java (Java 8+).
- 1-3 years of experience in writing high-performance code.
- Strong knowledge of Java, Python, Spring, Microservices, ORM, and related frameworks.
- Understanding of object-oriented development principles and data structures.
- Experience with relational databases and SQL.
- Familiarity with multi-threaded, distributed systems.
- Knowledge of the software development lifecycle and related tools such as Agile, Jira, Git, Continuous Integration.
- Experience with cloud computing and infrastructure is advantageous.
- Exposure to Big Data technologies like Hadoop/Spark is a plus.
- Passion for programming and analytical thinking.
- Excellent communication skills, including the ability to explain complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Exposure to the investment banking and finance domain is desirable.
