Position: Lead Consultant – SQL Developer

Location: Mumbai, India

Role Summary: The Lead Consultant – SQL Developer will be a key member of the Group Data Office, which supports the organization’s strategy execution through robust data standards, actionable performance metrics, and high-impact information and analytics products. This role involves developing and maintaining Unix scripts, complex SQL scripts, and collaborating with various teams to ensure optimal performance and data integrity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain Unix scripts to automate system tasks and processes.
  • Write, optimize, and maintain complex SQL scripts for data retrieval, manipulation, and analysis.
  • Collaborate with development teams to understand data requirements and develop corresponding scripts.
  • Identify and resolve performance issues in SQL scripts in conjunction with database administrators.
  • Troubleshoot and debug Unix and SQL scripts to ensure smooth operations and minimize downtime.
  • Monitor system performance, identify improvement areas, and propose solutions.
  • Ensure data integrity and security by adhering to best practices for Unix and SQL scripting.
  • Document Unix and SQL scripts for future reference and knowledge sharing.
  • Stay updated on the latest technologies, trends, and developments in Unix and SQL scripting.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to team members as needed.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience as a Unix/SQL Script Developer or in a similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of Unix/Linux operating systems and shell scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Korn).
  • Proficiency in writing complex SQL scripts for relational databases such as Oracle or MySQL.
  • Familiarity with database management systems and database design principles.
  • Experience in performance tuning and optimization of SQL queries.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to high-quality work.

Preferred Qualifications/Skills:

  • Experience with additional scripting languages such as Python or Perl.
  • Knowledge of ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) processes and tools.
  • Familiarity with data warehousing concepts and technologies.
  • Experience with version control systems like Git.
  • Certifications in Unix or SQL scripting are a plus.
