Job Description Summary:
As a Software Engineer – Data Engineering at GE Healthcare, you’ll be tasked with developing, testing, and implementing data engineering solutions to create analytical and reporting tools. Your role involves programming components and features, working independently, and collaborating with various teams to ensure project success. Additionally, you’ll contribute to design discussions and manage metadata structures while providing support for post-deployment activities.
Job Description:
As a Software Engineer – Data Engineering, your responsibilities will include:
- Defining, developing, and evolving software in a fast-paced, agile environment, focusing on data engineering and analytics projects.
- Collaborating with Product Line Leaders (PLLs) to understand product requirements and vision.
- Translating requirements into prioritized user stories and delivering within set timelines and quality standards.
- Developing multi-generation software technology plans in collaboration with product line leaders and architects.
- Supporting process improvements to guide development, sustaining, and support activities.
- Driving quality in product development and support.
- Applying SDLC principles and methodologies like Lean/Agile/XP, CI, and software and product security.
- Writing code that meets standards and delivers desired functionality using selected technologies.
- Understanding performance parameters and assessing application performance.
- Working on core data structures and algorithms and implementing them using chosen technology.
- Sharing information proactively across teams with appropriate detail and timeliness.
- Building automated Extract, Transform & Load (ETL) jobs based on data mapping specifications.
- Validating data mapping results and implementing Data Quality (DQ) rules.
- Education Qualification: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or STEM Majors (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) with advanced experience.
Technical Expertise:
- Hands-on experience with Windows and Unix/Linux based programming.
- Experience with Data Engineering projects.
- Coding experience with Spark (pyspark or scala spark), Python, JAVA, Scala.
- Writing SQL scripts for Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL, or Hive.
- Experience with any Databricks Platform.
- Experience with Cloud platforms and technologies like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Ability to work independently as a Data Engineer.
