Introduction
As a Barclays Business Data Governance Analyst, you will ensure Group Data Management Standards are governed across the UK business. You will work across business and customer journeys to assess, capture, and optimize data points, identifying risks and eliciting control requirements. Collaboration with Business SMEs, Operations, Architects, and Technology is key.
What Will You Be Doing?
- Identify data capture points in customer journeys and business processes to optimize data for better customer outcomes.
- Interpret key business data sets, determining their criticality and quality.
- Analyze data and business processes to identify risks, issues, and pain points.
- Identify control weaknesses, establish feedback loops, and communicate inputs and outputs of Data Governance Forums.
- Support business intelligence and process optimization strategies through quantitative analysis.
- Communicate data control and risk mitigation requirements to delivery teams.
- Collaborate cross-departmentally on data-driven strategies to improve business processes and decision-making.
- Ensure adherence to Group Data Management Policy & Standards (GDMS).
- Develop and support BUK CDO CDEs Data Quality rules and Data Lineage requirements across Data Domains.
- Define and implement Data Quality Functional and Technical Rules using ETL, Tableau, and other data tools.
What We’re Looking For
- Experience with large datasets for analysis and business insights.
- Good understanding of Data Management, Data Governance, Data Quality, and Metadata Management.
- Experience with ETL, Data Warehousing, Big Data, and Dimensional Modelling.
- Proficiency in data management/governance tools (e.g., Ab Initio, Informatica, Collibra).
- Hands-on experience with Data Lineage, Data Profiling, Data Quality Rule Implementation, and DQ reports.
- Proficiency in building visualizations on reporting tools for stakeholders.
- Understanding of retail banking and financial services, especially products like mortgages, credit cards, current accounts.
- Practical experience in Change Management, Process Excellence, Project Management, and Data Analysis.
- Experience in scoping and prioritization discussions based on data elements’ criticality or materiality.
Skills That Will Help You in the Role
- E/B.Tech/MCA in computer science or related fields.
- Experience in data lineage, data quality, databases, and data warehouses.
- Understanding of data-related capabilities including Data Architecture, Data Analytics, Data Modelling.
- Working knowledge of SQL, ETL technology, Linux/Unix, Tableau/Qlik/Business Objects.
- Understanding of cloud technologies (AWS/Google/Azure).
- Knowledge of industry tools and assets for data quality and measures.
