DESCRIPTION

The Site WHS Manager will partner with a site operations team in a Fulfillment Center to execute company safety policies and ensure compliance with local and regional regulations. This role involves leading continuous improvement initiatives using lean principles and kaizens to reduce conditional and ergonomic risks, ensuring a safe working environment for Associates. Key responsibilities include building trust with the Operations Team, conducting risk assessments, analyzing safety data, instructing and training leaders on safety policies, and incorporating best practices into safety standards. The Site WHS Manager will lead a team consisting of Safety Specialists, Safety Coordinators, and Onsite First Aid Associates, and must effectively communicate expectations and provide feedback to ensure compliance with Amazon’s safety standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Compliance and Oversight: Ensure compliance with Amazon Safety Policies and local/regional regulations. Provide guidance and oversight for adherence to these policies.
  • Performance Measurement: Measure site performance against safety policy requirements, identify deficiencies, and implement corrective plans.
  • Project Delivery: Deliver quality projects on time to Operations.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze safety metrics and incident trends to allocate resources effectively.
  • Site Safety Audits: Perform frequent safety audits to identify non-compliance and implement solutions to eliminate risks.
  • Recordkeeping Audits: Audit recordkeeping practices to ensure compliance with global safety standards and local regulations.
  • Behavior and Training Audits: Audit workplace organization and Associate behaviors to ensure training accuracy and effectiveness.
  • Mentorship: Manage and mentor Safety Associates.
  • Communication and Improvement: Seek input from safety teams and Associates for program improvement, and ensure open communication on progress and resolutions.
  • Training: Ensure site leadership and Associates are trained and knowledgeable of their responsibilities, and audit the quality and effectiveness of all required safety training.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Environment, Health & Safety or an ME in Industrial Safety Engineering.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Experience in reputed private or government organizations.
  • Experience managing multiple direct reports.
  • Flexibility regarding shifts.
  • Experience implementing lean principles and process improvement in an operational environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in Distribution Center or Manufacturing Safety with a mix of exempt and non-exempt employees.
  • Master’s degree preferred or equivalent.
  • Experience in a fast-paced, changing/growing organization.
  • Government Certified Safety Professional preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to develop and implement departmental goals and strategies.
  • Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem-solving ability.
  • Adaptability to fast-paced environments with changing circumstances, direction, and strategy.
