This job description is for a Hardware Systems Engineer, Silicon role at Meta in Bangalore, India. The position is focused on the Release to Production (RTP) team, which is responsible for the hardware lifecycle of Meta servers. The RTP Silicon squad is particularly tasked with delivering scalable and reliable custom ASIC solutions to meet the demands of Meta’s data centers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with end users to understand system use cases and guide validation efforts.
- Ensure tight integration between hardware qualification and final application use models.
- Focus on both the volume and velocity of qualifications to enable fast ramp-up to production.
- Engage in all aspects of silicon productization, from early architecture and design inputs to post-silicon characterization.
- Support the architecture team with performance and power characterization insights.
- Work closely with the verification team to develop comprehensive pre and post-silicon test plans.
- Write tests, create bare-metal operating systems, and enable frameworks for scalable testing.
- Conduct extensive functional and electrical characterization over temperature, process corners, and voltage.
- Build and maintain extensive lab automation to support testing at scale.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Engineering, Math, Physics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Hands-on experience in software/firmware/hardware engineering for building systems/products in the IT industry.
- Understanding of server/systems architecture and components.
- Experience in troubleshooting and analytics.
- Experience in working with internal and external partners for device integration and systems development.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience in ASIC design, development, or validation, including silicon bring-up, validation, emulation, and characterization.
- Proficiency in Python, C/C++ (data structures, algorithms, and OOP), Verilog/SystemVerilog.
- Experience with Linux systems and server systems management.
- Knowledge of various modules/domains such as PCIe, Networking, Flash, Memory, CPU, GPU, DRAM, Serdes, and embedded programming.
- Familiarity with test automation and instrument communication, including tools like oscilloscopes, analyzers, and traffic generators.
- Experience with debugging tools for SoCs, such as JTAG, GDB, and Trace32.
- Understanding of embedded systems and common bus protocols like I2C, SPI, USB, and PCIe.
