Job Summary:
As a Data Engineer 2 at Comcast, you will be responsible for designing, building, and overseeing the deployment and operation of technology architecture, solutions, and software. Your role involves managing structured and unstructured data from internal and external sources, utilizing cloud and local databases, and employing big-data techniques for data transformation and maintenance. You will collaborate closely with data modelers and analysts to support business insights and operational requirements.
Core Responsibilities:
- Develop data structures and pipelines to organize, collect, standardize, and transform data.
- Ensure data quality throughout the ingestion, processing, and loading phases.
- Create ingestion frameworks for both structured and unstructured data.
- Develop methods for end-users and downstream applications to consume data (e.g., database views, APIs).
- Implement and maintain information systems like data warehouses and data lakes.
- Optimize data sourcing and processing rules in collaboration with technology partners.
- Manage data migrations and conversions as platforms evolve.
- Understand data lineage and transformation rules for troubleshooting and impact analysis.
- Adhere to data privacy regulations and information lifecycle management practices.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- 2-5 years of relevant work experience in data engineering or related roles.
- Proficiency in managing data across on-premises (e.g., Kubernetes, Teradata) and cloud platforms (e.g., AWS S3, Redshift).
- Experience with data quality management, data transformation, and ETL processes.
- Strong programming skills with knowledge of AI, machine learning, and big-data technologies.
- Ability to solve complex technical issues and drive results independently.
- Familiarity with data privacy and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
