Overview:

Catchpoint, the Internet Resilience Company™, is looking for a Systems Engineer I to assist the Operations team in maintaining the highest possible uptime for both customer and internal networks. This position is based in Bengaluru, Karnataka, India, and involves monitoring, investigating, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving application, server, network, and infrastructure issues.

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitoring & Troubleshooting:
  • Monitor Catchpoint’s node infrastructure.
  • Troubleshoot Linux server issues across third-party data centers and cloud providers (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Incident Management:
  • Accept and register incidents from the Support team.
  • Classify incidents according to specified categories.
  • Execute initial attempts to resolve incidents and escalate as necessary based on SLAs.
  • Track the progress of incidents throughout their lifecycle to ensure resolution within the agreed SLAs.
• Operational Support:
  • Perform OS/application upgrades and server migrations to new environments.
  • Drive the operational aspects of incident management, ensuring SLAs for time, quality, and customer satisfaction are met.
  • Escalate issues to the appropriate next level or management when necessary.
• Communication:
  • Maintain excellent written and oral communication skills with a focus on customer/client interaction.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Education:
  • BE/BTech/MCA in Computer Science & Networking (2023/2024 graduate).
• Experience:
  • 0-6 months of relevant experience.
• Certifications:
  • Certification in Linux preferred.
• Technical Skills:
  • Basic troubleshooting knowledge in Linux (Red Hat/CentOS).
  • Network troubleshooting using tools like ping and traceroute.
  • Basic understanding of Bash/Shell scripting and web server management.
  • Fundamental understanding of large-scale networking concepts, including the OSI Model, DNS, SSL/TLS, WINS, TCP/IP, VLANs, DHCP, Routing, ACLs, and switching.
  • Knowledge of Linux virtualization (KVM) is a plus.
• Work Environment:
  • Willingness to work in 24/5 rotational shifts.

What Will Success Look Like?

Success in this role means maintaining the uptime and availability of Catchpoint’s global infrastructure across multiple third-party data centers and cloud providers. The Systems Engineer will effectively monitor, investigate, diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve infrastructure issues, escalating to L2 engineers as needed, while adhering to SLAs and OLAs. Collaboration with Operations Managers, Technical Services teams, internal partners, and external customers is essential.
