Role Purpose

The primary purpose of this role is to provide advanced technical expertise in architecture planning and design within the specified tower (platform, database, middleware, backup, etc.) while managing its day-to-day operations efficiently.

Responsibilities

Architectural Planning & Design:

  • Support architecture planning, migration, and installation for new projects within the assigned tower.
  • Lead the design of platforms, middleware, databases, backups, etc., ensuring highly scalable and extensible solutions.
  • Conduct technology capacity planning to review current and future requirements.
  • Leverage new technology features to ensure smooth operation of installed databases and applications/platforms.
  • Strategize and implement disaster recovery plans and create backup and recovery plans.

Operational Management:

  • Manage day-to-day tower operations, troubleshoot issues, conduct root cause analysis (RCA), and develop solutions to prevent recurring issues.
  • Plan and manage upgrades, migrations, maintenance, backups, installations, and configurations.
  • Review technical performance and implement improvements to enhance efficiency and performance.
  • Develop shift rosters to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Create and update SOPs, Data Responsibility Matrices, operations manuals, test plans, and data architecture guidelines.
  • Provide weekly status reports to client leadership and internal stakeholders regarding database activities.
  • Develop Service Improvement Plans (SIP) through automation and other initiatives for improved efficiency and effectiveness.

Team Management:

  • Resourcing:
    • Forecast talent requirements based on current and future business needs.
    • Hire appropriate resources for the team.
    • Train direct reportees for effective recruitment and selection.
  • Talent Management:
    • Ensure compliance with Wipro’s onboarding and training standards.
    • Build an internal talent pool of high-potential employees and ensure their career progression.
    • Promote diversity in leadership positions.
  • Performance Management:
    • Set goals, conduct performance reviews, and provide constructive feedback.
    • Ensure team engagement with organizational programs like Performance Nxt.
  • Employee Satisfaction and Engagement:
    • Lead engagement initiatives for the team.
    • Track satisfaction scores and identify engagement opportunities.
    • Challenge the team with enriching projects and recognize achievements.
