DESCRIPTION
ROC Overview: The Relay Operation Center (ROC) is the command and control center for Amazon’s Transportation Execution across multiple geographies, including North America (NA) and Europe (EU). The ROC ensures the timely and hassle-free pick-up and delivery of freight from vendors to Amazon fulfillment centers (FCs) and from FCs to carrier hubs. In the event of any exceptions, the ROC intervenes to resolve issues and keeps all stakeholders informed. Besides tactical problem-solving, the ROC also focuses on analyzing network exceptions and automating processes or proposing changes to streamline operations. This involves significant data analysis and network monitoring.
Role of a Trans Ops Specialist: A Transportation Operations Specialist at ROC is responsible for facilitating information flow between stakeholders (Trans Carriers/Hubs/Warehouses) and resolving issues that impact customer experience and business continuity. Specialists work across two verticals: Inbound and Outbound operations.
- Inbound Operations: Deals with Vendor/Carrier/FC relationships to ensure timely freight pick-up and delivery at FCs.
- Outbound Operations: Manages FC/Carrier/Carrier Hub relationships to ensure trucks leave the FC on time and deliver customer orders as promised.
Responsibilities:
- Communicate with external customers (Carriers, Vendors/Suppliers) and internal customers (Retail, Finance, Software Support, Fulfillment Centers).
- Pull data from databases (using Excel, Access, SQL, etc.) for ad hoc reporting and analysis.
- Develop and understand performance metrics to drive business results.
- Define business and functional requirements for Amazon technology teams.
- Quickly assess the business impact of trends and make data-driven decisions.
- Systematically escalate problems or data variances to relevant teams and ensure resolution.
- Work within time constraints to meet critical business needs, measuring and identifying activities performed.
- Create narratives outlining weekly findings and variances to goals and present these in review forums.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in a quantitative/technical field such as computer science, engineering, statistics.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in Excel, statistics, and problem-solving skills.
