Job Description:
Mercedes-Benz Research and Development, India, is seeking a System Responsible Engineer with a robust technical background in system engineering and product development of Electronic Control Units (ECUs). The role primarily focuses on the Body, Comfort & Safety systems within the Product Development department.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Describe customer functions and create brief descriptions.
- Derive system functions required for customer functions and define system boundaries (mechanics, EE, and software).
- Identify system demands and properties and derive system requirements.
- Ensure hazard and risk analysis for the system.
- Create and test system configurations (versions, variants, alternatives).
- Participate in deriving system architectures and map customer and system functions to components.
- Coordinate system contributions with all involved participants.
- Specify customer function effect chains and integrate regulations (e.g., SUMS, OBD/ENDA) and implementing components (E/E, HW, SW, Services, etc.).
- Create system requirements specifications according to the standard template SRS.
- Document, coordinate, and communicate system changes with participants, follow-up processes, and resolution of amendments if necessary.
- Plan and define the test concept and test specifications, including test cases in the respective system validation plan (SVP) with reference to requirements.
- Verify system specifications and evaluate test results.
- Conduct maturity assessment, error analysis, and symptom attribution.
- Document and ensure system release.
- Plan and record results in respective IT tools and archive the release.
- Provide development and series support for EE components for Mercedes-Benz cars, ensuring compliance with legal regulations, production demands, project objectives, carline, and module strategy.
- Create and update requirements specifications for components, integrating safety requirements; contribute to concept and vehicle specification.
- Establish, control, and maintain schedules (with component and software release versions) considering process milestones at the entire vehicle level.
- Assist in creating and releasing a test and commissioning regulation (PIV) for components.
Skills Required:
- Strong automotive domain knowledge, particularly in automotive electronics.
- Self-motivated with the ability to mentor/guide a team of engineers.
- Strong interpersonal skills with good communication abilities.
- Experience working with global teams and understanding of OEM/Tier-1 development models.
- Proven problem-solving ability and motivation to lead the team in problem-solving.
- Good understanding of development processes in automotive OEMs/Tier-1s.
- Understanding of Automotive Body electronics/Powertrain/Safety systems, ECU, SW architecture, and ECU functional testing.
- Ability to embody core values, integrity, and professionalism in daily operations.
- Experience in the development of ECUs/electronic components with medium complexity (e.g., Cluster ECU, Seat Control ECU, Immobilizer, Keyless Entry).
Qualifications:
- B.E/M. Tech (full-time) from reputed institutions with specialization in Electrical & Electronics / Electronics & Communication / Mechatronics / Instrumentation.
- 3-6 years of experience in automotive electronics system development.
