Description:

As part of the Global Accounting and Product Services (GAAPS) function, the Accounting Services & Oversight team (ASO) in Mumbai consists of approximately 50 team members supporting various aspects of the accounting process. This includes ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of Net Asset Value (NAV) publication, managing fund expenses, onboarding new funds, and reconciling BlackRock’s records with external records. The team’s controls and oversight contribute to fulfilling BlackRock’s fiduciary responsibilities to its clients.

We also manage all Fund Accounting data interfacing into EMEA Regulatory reports, such as MIFID, PRIIPS, etc., and are responsible for strategic projects related to technical products, migrations, and technology architecture. We aim to enhance the team’s scope, particularly focusing on technology files received from outsourced third-party providers, with a global perspective.

Primary Job Responsibilities:

Regulatory:

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory changes affecting EMEA Funds, collaborating with Legal and Compliance as necessary.
  • Regulatory changes include but are not limited to MIFID, PRIIPS, BWP, LGPS, UCITS KIID, and AIFMD.

Platform and Architecture:

  • Engage with Accountants regarding technology changes in Production Platforms/Systems and the appropriate testing process.
  • Understand and document the global technology infrastructure with service providers, covering NAV price dissemination, static data enrichment within BlackRock, etc.
  • Responsible for rationalizing data feeds and promoting standardization from external providers into BlackRock.
  • Address technology failures with outsourced providers and via vendor forums to ensure prompt resolution and conduct post-resolution analysis.
  • Participate in technology changes within the EMEA team and engage in initiatives and projects related to technological improvements resulting from product and business changes.

NAV Reconciling, Benchmark Controls & Expense Management:

  • Conduct Benchmark controls comparing external Fund Accounting/PB/Custodian fund data to internal data, identifying tolerance breaches, and facilitating resolution.
  • Perform key end-to-end reconciliation processes including Fund Accountant to Custodian positions, Fund Accountant to Aladdin position/Market Value, Fund Accountant to Custody cash/income, Transfer Agency/Accounting, and Contract for Difference (CFD) reconciliation.
  • Manage fund expense activities, including loading expense requests & fund allocations, leading end-to-end processing of expense requests, and exploring automation initiatives to increase scalability.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • 2-8 years’ experience in Fund Accountancy with related experience in regulatory and/or operations.
  • Good knowledge of Excel; experience with SQL and VBA is desirable.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-intensity environment, with excellent analytical, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Strong client service skills and a commitment to delivering service excellence.
  • Proactive mindset, willing to lead and follow through on issues to resolution.
  • Technical understanding of various investment instruments, fund types, and products.
  • Ability to identify and resolve problems proactively and work flexibly to achieve team goals.
